Ukrainian boils lover's brains, eats her tongue
Kiev - A Ukrainian who strangled his young lover, boiled her brains, ate her tongue and kept her skull on his television set has been sentenced to die, officials said Tuesday.
Dmitri Diomin, 19, had initially confessed to strangling Tamara Kustova, 14, in woods near Simferopol in the Crimea in November 1997, a court in Kiev was told.
The former art-school student later retracted his confession, but the case against him went ahead, culminating with his conviction and death sentence last Friday.
According to testimony at his trial, Diomin -- aided by two accomplices -- cut off the girl's head with a kitchen knife, boiled it and ate her tongue, later burning the body, officials said.
The two male accomplices, aged 18 and 20, received prison terms of eight and 13 years' respectively.
The prosecution said Diomin had coated the victim's skull with lacquer and kept it on the television set like a trophy until his arrest last October.
A search of Diomin's home by the authorities also turned up another skull, objects used in Satanic rituals, and books about black magic, the officials said.
