Can You Really Make
A Living On The Internet?

By Jim Daniels

There's no doubt that this whole internet thing is here to stay. Just as many people in the 1940's and 50's thought the television would be a flash in the pan, many have considered the internet to be a "here today - gone tomorrow" product of modern technology. Let me assure you, nothing could be further from the truth!

Things are happening quickly in this new world of opportunity. The last few years have seen a transformation of sorts on the "net". The inevitable commercialization of the internet is now in full swing. Simply put, people are starting to profit from all this technology. Not only are the big businesses reaping the rewards of "net marketing", but there are now internet based businesses cropping up all over the world. All it takes is a computer, a modem and a little know how!

Have you been considering starting a home based business in the online arena, but aren't sure if it's for you? Here are a few reasons why you should consider joining the fray...

1. Population.

The late 1990's has seen the population on the internet increase to numbers previously unthought of. This unprecedented growth has opened up a whole new playing field for new entrepreneurs. With the help of new online marketing strategies continually being introduced, these newcomers are starting to take charge. The online population is expected to exceed 100 million by the turn of the century, so the customer base is virtually unlimited. Needless to say, with the right product, service or opportunity, strategically marketed to the right consumer, a new business can achieve excellent revenue!

2. Low overhead.

The traditional high costs associated with running a business are being replaced with cheaper and more effective tools. Email, is a good example of this. Never before has it been possible to reach someone on the other side of the globe in seconds, at such a minuscule cost. You can start an online business on a shoestring!

3. Everyone is making money!

What kind of online businesses are actually making money? Information brokers, web page designers, web hosting companies, online publishers, advertising services, the list is endless.

Do you have an idea that could turn into profit? Then go for it! If you're looking for ideas, check out some online classifieds. Read newsletters and ezines. The net is loaded with information for newbie "netrepreneurs".

You're already online. That's a step ahead of a lot of other people. If you have a few hours a week to spare, you may want to give it a shot. Find a legitimate opportunity that has a low start-up cost. The bottom line is, you won't know if an online business is for you unless you try it. You may just find your self trading in that 9-5 for a more rewarding and secure position right in your own home...
